FY24 Climate Disclosures
We're pleased to share our FY24 Climate Statements. While we have reported our carbon footprint data for the past five years and our climate risks and opportunities since FY22, this is the first year of mandatory reporting to the New Zealand Climate Standards. It's also the first time that we're disclosing our more comprehensive GHG inventory (carbon footprint) with additional 'Scope 3' value chain emissions categories. With Scope 3 representing over 99% of our total footprint, it means our FY24 footprint is much larger than previous years, at ~1.08million tonnes CO2e.
Our carbon challenge
We aim for our guests to have unforgettable journeys; our vehicles help them spend time in stunning natural destinations around the world. It's no surprise that the majority of our emissions arise from our fleet of Recreational Vehicles (RVs), with ~860,000 tonnes CO2e from our customers' use of sold products.
Despite being one of the largest RV companies in the world, we are relatively small compared with some of our suppliers, and this is reflected in our climate risk and opportunity profile. Ours is a systemic challenge: we are 'technology-takers', reliant on the progress our suppliers make towards low and no-emissions technologies. (Plus our customers will need charging infrastructure that suits their tourism needs). However, our vehicles also provide a solution for emergency services responding to the increasing extreme weather events around the world, and provide mobile housing for displaced people.
We're pleased to be running our second eRV trial, currently underway in Aotearoa New Zealand. Our progress will depend on partnerships, trialling new technologies as they become feasible, and our continuing deep commitment to make progress on our 23 future-fit science-based sustainability goals (see our FY24 Integrated Annual Report for more information).
